Global Logistics Joins Ebola Fight

As the fight against the deadly Ebola intensifies, a hundred percent Liberian owned business Global Logistics Services Incorporated has announced the waiving of its Agency Charge for clients importing materials intended to be used in the fight the virus in Liberia.

Speaking to reporters in Monrovia, the Company's General Manager for Operations Paul Kamaal King said the move is geared towards supporting efforts of government and international partners in the fight against the deadly Ebola virus.

 

Mr. King named the materials as Personal Protective Equipment, medical suppliers and other essential commodities meant to reinforce the fight against Ebola.

He said the Global Logistics Services has assisted in clearing of Thermometers from UNDP and beds recently donated by UNICEF to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital.

Mr. King promised his institution will render some assistance in the fight against Ebola adding the company is saddened by the alarming proportion of deaths of Liberians and its neighbors in the sub region since the outbreak.

The World Health Organization has reported more than one thousand people have died from the virus declaring it as a Global Health Emergency.

He intimated the gesture is part of his company's social corporate responsibility to its clients and Liberians in general especially during such national health emergency.

He said the move is not restricted to quantity of consignment but was quick to note that all statutory duty charges by government remain.

Officials of the company including our Chief Executive Officer Mr. Peter King are currently abroad and is expected to bring into the country medical materials to be donated to hospital facilities and affected communities he disclosed.

Mr. King is at the same time admonishing multi-national companies businesses as well as well-meaning Liberians to join the Ebola fight with whatever contribution they can afford to prevent the spread of the disease.

Commenting on the company's scope of operations. Mr. King said they are into clearing, forwarding, shipping, and transportation in Liberia adding that since its operations in Liberia it has brought customs clearing process from what he described as a one man level to a corporate level.

Established in 2011, Global Logistics Services is a full time logistics company and an agent PANALPINA in Liberia and Sierra Leone the world's 3rd largest forwarding Company.

According the Global Logistics executive the business has grown from a three man staff to forty employees with its capacity building programs been major factor for the growth.

He despite a number of companies venturing similar business, it paces emphasis on its competitive rate coupled with efficient and valuable services to clients to meet up with challenges from logistics competitors.

Mr. King spoke of expansion to other parts of the country including the southeast to provide efficient and affordable logistics services to Liberians across the country.
